More with Owner Kemet Alston interviewed by Deja Leonni

Question 1:  Hey Kemet, so can you catch us up on what you have been doing since our first interview?  Any new photoshoots you want to tell us about?

AnswerThank you for asking.  Since we last spoke, I have had three shoots on which I have worked.  I have worked on two brand shoots and one Halloween shoot.  One of the brand shoots is with a family friend and the other one is a Christian clothing line.  The Christian clothing brand Glory Apparel has a clothing line called Loved Ones dropping Nov. 4th.  This brand is powerful because it deals with people knowing how loved they are.  No matter what you are going through or have been through God loves you.  Percentage of the money made from this line is going towards helping people get the help they need with therapy.  To be a part of something that truly stands for something and makes a positive impact on people through the stories of the models or people involved in this clothing line is special.  I thank the owner of the line for allowing me to use my talents to bring Loved Ones to life.

I have also been working on a fun Halloween shoot.  Love and basketball the movie.  It has been fun to help a loving couple capture special moments in their life they can remember together.  Seems like my friend and his girlfriend absolutely love one another and to be a part of their journey through my lens is special.  Its so fun when I can create magic with my lens that means something.  It’s not just art but a memory they can take with them for a lifetime.

Lasty, I decide to go to this creator’s event with The Elated Experience ATL at Creators Canvas Studios.  At first, I did not know what to expect but once I decided to stay and feel the vibes out it was amazing.  So many wonderful people and artist in the same room creating.  I brought my light and my eye lighter and that was a big hit.  People where in aww of what I was creating.  To me I did not feel like I was doing anything special but to them I was creating magic that was blowing them away.  I def appreciate all the positive remarks about my work.  It is one thing to hear from family and friends but to hear from strangers you do not know is a positive thing as well.  One person even said wow where did you come from.  You are an alien you are so good.  That was something new I had never heard as well.  One thing that really stood out was one of the hosts of the event told me that my work was amazing.  I told her thank you, but I still have a long way to go.  She said we all have growing to do.  But appreciate where you are now you are great now!  That stood out to me because it made me just realize we have dreams and goals but its ok to be present in the now and appreciate what you have accomplished now.  I am very appreciative of my skills right now and what I have created.  I just cannot wait to see what God has in store with me.  The host of the event also have a up and coming modeling agency in Atlanta and I am looking to see about joining their team.  Next time we speak I hope to be able to tell you all I have joined the agency.

Question 2:  Give us A Day in the Life of Kemet

Answer:  Wow how to answer this without sounding boring.  For me I realized I could not work towards creating the life I wanted with my photography business until I had steady income.  So yes, I do photography all the time but not just for Kemet Alston Photography.  That is the goal soon hopefully.  For me, my life is simple right now.  My day starts off waking up in the morning and getting ready for work.  Once I get ready, I would head to my job where I photograph.  I work at the aquarium where I photograph people and animals.  Once I leave the job, I hope I have some photography lined up for Kemet Alston Photography where I get to build the business, I want for myself in the future.  Once I have finished, I go home to relax and wind down.  After my time at home with my family I then would go spend time with my girlfriend having dinner and watching a good movie.  After all that I get up the next morning and repeat the cycle.  Weekends can be a little different when I am not working but during the week the same. I def want my life to be more interesting.  I hope that comes soon enough when I become the photographer I was meant to be.

Question 3:  What does your life look like outside of photography?

AnswerThis is a great question.  Wish I could give you an exciting answer.  Right now, I am always wanting to create because I am not where I want to be in my life.  I am so thankful for the photography opportunities I have been able to have so far, and I cannot thank God enough for those experiences.  If I am not at work or doing my own photography, I am trying to spend time with my girlfriend making memories that will last a lifetime.  I love movies so going to the movies is a big part of my life.  I enjoy music so trying to go to concerts is something I try to do.  Also, sports are big for me so you will catch me watching a good game when it comes on TV.  One thing I will say I need to do more of is spend time with family.  I have done so much photography I am realizing how much of my little cousins lives I am missing out on, and how much time I am missing with my grandpa.  Overall, I cannot allow Photography to consume me as a person and I miss out on the beauty around me outside of that.  Photography is not what defines me, and I would not want people to only see me as that.
